FEATHERTOUCH BROWS/MICROBLADE BROWS/COSMETIC TATTOO! Now in Manly QLD @ Cosmetic Artistry!!

I have provided a brief explanation of microblading/powder brow's below but will be doing a full blog soon to provide more detail on these services.

What is microblading? (from WIKI)

Also knowns as feathertouch, featherstroke, eyebrow embroidery, microstroking.  Hair like strokes are deposited in the form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.

What are powder brows (WIKI)

Pick a lash technician - checklist

Written by Michelle Sweeney

Have decided to start a checklist on "how to pick a lash technician?"

I will add to this list over the coming month's but just wanted to start this list off.

  1. Is the lash technician qualified, do they hold an accreditation with the RTO (registered training organistion)?   YES/NO
  • If YES - they will have a certificated with the following RTO number's included -
  • 30928QLD - Course in Design and Apply Eyelash Extensions
  • SHBBMUP001 - Apply eyelash extensions

This is a list of the current RTO's approved to deliver this competency with the government.

Listen to your lash tech!!!

Written by Michelle Sweeney

Hi All

A quick blog post! over the past few weeks I have seen numerous new clients.  Some of these are new to lashes all together and others are "just needing somewhere to go.... my lady is booked out".

People have their tastes and I do let my clients choose their lengths and the look they are after with careful guidance.

I'm not sure about other lash technicians but I have done many courses - one common theme of these courses is the "correct selection" of lashes.  This meaning ensuring you apply the correct lash type (length and width) depending on the condition/length of the natural lash.

Unfortunately sometimes this may mean we need to advise you to go down a lash length or to remove volume lashes if we feel your natural lashes either need a break or simply just can't handle the weight.

Disruptions to Services for October

Written by Michelle Sweeney

Hi All

A quick note to let you know about the disruptions to service over the month of October.

As most of you are aware I am continuing my studies with the aim to have these all finalised by the end of October this year.  (Huge sigh of relief in typing this!!!)

I am doing this to ensure I am, not only meeting the regulated standards for a professional in the beauty industry, but also so I can ensure my clients are treated by a professional that has the most up to date training in the beauty industry.

We all know how far the beauty industry has come and how fast the industry changes, so to say that I will have the most up-to-date training and have studied at one of Australia's most prestigious beauty academies is not only an honour but makes me extremely excited for the future of both myself and my clients.

Eyelush Australia - Do you know how many lashes your technician has applied?

Written by Michelle Sweeney

How many lashes do you leave your lash technician with??

Humans have 70 to 150 eyelashes on the upper lid and 70 to 80 eyelashes on the lower lid of each eye.

So when a technician says "I'm doing fullsets for $80" they should be able to tell you exactly how many lashes they are applying.

What should you expect from your technician?

Technicians should know exactly how many lashes they are applying whether it be classic or russian volume.  If they have isolated correctly and have applied lashes evenly they will know exactly how many lashes on each eye.

This enables the technician to track any changes.  Your lash technician should be counting how many lashes you have at each appointment and reviewing your retention at every appointment.
